Wagra in Drought

Far-East Gippsland is in the grip of the worst drought in the history of Wagra. In the drought of 2007, the grass was higher than Graham’s waist. Our spring system didn’t dry up at all over the 14 year millennial drought but it is dry now. The plantations probably dried up the sub water. Pines over the road and hardwood next-door-but-one little hobby farm.

There were 5000 head of cattle at the Bairnsdale sale last week. Orbost farmers off-loading.

There are those who say that farmers should be getting more support, but I say there is no point waiting for handouts and miracles. What we need is strategy and resilience!!
